In this assignment we were given a theme (‘space’ in my case) that we were supposed to investigate thoroughly. Then with use of that theme and visual research around it we had to create a way of making typographic terms memorable. We had to design and produce a printed hand-out/pocket guide aimed at students which illustrates the meaning of a number of typographic terms using non-typographic forms.

I decided to create my piece as a long concertina booklet. My specific approach to ‘space’ as a theme was to create a series of illustrations inspired by The Space Race. It is also possible to play with the rocket on the back and make it longer or shorter by folding the booklet in different ways.
